How to Choose a Chandelier for a Double-Height Living Room

For a double-height room, choose a chandelier with enough vertical presence to connect the upper and lower volumes. Scale, drop length, tiering and the main viewing level are more important than diameter alone.
Think vertically
A double-height space creates a tall visual void. A fixture that works in a standard room may look undersized when viewed across two levels, so consider overall height and tier arrangement as well as width.
Decide the main viewing level
Check how the chandelier will look from the ground floor, staircase, balcony and entrance. The most decorative portion should sit where it can be appreciated from the dominant viewpoints.
Plan maintenance access
Before finalising a very high installation, decide how bulbs, glass and cleaning points will be accessed. This can influence the ideal hanging position and fixture configuration.
